WHAT INSPIRES YOU

DEISGN FOR ME = my life ambition is to create memorable homes for people to come home to, time and time again......

I ASK, WHAT INSPIRES YOU ?

Today my blog is about what inspires and drives you ? How do you make a living from the things that you create ? Do you believe yourself to be as lucky as me to be able to do something that you love every day ?

My life ambition from a wee age even though I didn't know it at the time, was to CREATE. I studied Graphic Design before finding my passion and expression through Interior Design. I found the confidence and inner strength to open my own business after gaining the recognition for my spaces at the Australian National Design Awards and am now able to make a living independently through a career path I love and is what innately comes to me.

I recently saw an interview on Gareth Pugh a revolutionary Fashion Designer based in the UK. He is pushing the boundaries of what is except-able and is revolutionising the way people look at clothes and fashion. He is driven by the creative process rather than what is the norm and ignores current trends. I can relate to this as when I desgn for a client it is never about imposing my style onto a client. I interpret a brief and the clients personality into a uniquely atmospheric design that reflects the clients wishes rather than what is in the now. I was recently asked if I have ever presented a design to a client that was rejected and I can honestly say no ( touch wood). It is really important to know your client and how far you can push the boundaries.

Thinking outside the norm. and pushing new ideas ultimately will lead to success. Your passion and drive will sell the concept to the client (if you know how far to push). So I ask you to push the permitter of creativity a little harder this week. Let the client decide if a concept is suitable or not. Give your client the option to choose before you say no to an idea, only for it to be lost to the osmoses forever.

FOOD. GRAFFITI. ARCHITECTURE.

Melbourne Graffiti located in Hosier Lane along with some of Melbourne's most scrumptious Spanish tapas at Movida.

Abbotsford Convent home to Melbourne's most talented and creative artisans and designers. A great place to visit on the weekend to experience the true medieval French ecclesiastic architecture and surrounding gardens, while enjoying a wood fired oven pizza baked on the premises.

LIGHTING

                   Bocci series 28 chandelier

I love the hand blown 'Bocci 28 series chandelier' from Vancouver, Canada. The simplicity of the form and transparency make for an interesting centre pice to any home.

CLASSIC DINING CHAIR

The Wishbone chair otherwise known as CH24, was designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son in 1949 and production has not been disrupted since it's 1950.Classically beautiful and light yet also comfortable, it is a truly amazing and timeless piece of furniture.

The chair is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. More than 100 production steps are carried out by hand, and the seat is hand woven from 120 metres of paper cord that can last up to 50 years.
